Abstract
Ontologies: Real Applications in Pharma

Steve Gardner, Ph.D., Chief Technology Officer, BioWisdom Ltd

Ontologies have been touted as the great new hope for integrating knowledge across complex processes such as drug discovery and development. The test of whether this is hype or reality is how they enable real-world applications that generate true business value. The first generation of ontologies are beginning to demonstrate just such value in a range of applications from drug safety, biomarker discovery, market differentiation and in-licensing. This talk will describe and demonstrate ontology-enhanced applications in a number of these areas.
